Playing The Beatles Rockband is almost like second nature to me. It’s most probably because I have been a big fan of the fab four since high school days and boy is that a long long time ago. I also play the guitar and have tried playing ‘all’ of the Beatles song on it, so I guess, yeah, playing The Beatles Rockband may come a little easy (but super exciting) for me.

I believe that I can finish the whole “Story” level of the game in one seating, yes I do. The latest level of the game that I have cleared is the Abbey Road 66-67 but Budokan stage is my favorite since most of my great Beatles songs (at least for me) are included in the playlist – Day Tripper, And Your Bird Can Sing, Taxman.

Here are the other stages of the game that I have ‘conquered’:

The Cavern

Ed Sullivan Show

…

Budokan

How ‘The Beatles: Rock Band‘ Was Born – article directly taken form MTV site http://www.mtv.com/news/articles/1619850/20090828/beatles.jhtml

Ever since 2005, when the original “Guitar Hero” made a splash in the rhythm-gaming market, there have been a few bands people have been dying to see in a video game. The Beatles were one of the bands on a lot of wish lists, but no one really expected that they would be willing to license their music out for use in a rhythm game. But, improbably, the release of “The Beatles: Rock Band” on September 9 will see their music on PlayStation 3’s, Xbox 360’s and Wii’s around the globe.

We caught up with Josh Randall, the creative director behind “The Beatles: Rock Band,” to find out how the game came to be.

“It all started around a chance meeting between Dhani Harrison [the son of George Harrison] and Van Toffler, the head of MTV,” Randall recalled. Harrison was apparently a big fan of Harmonix, the developer of “The Beatles: Rock Band,” because of their work on the “Guitar Hero” franchise. MTV had just acquired the developer, so Harrison was wondering what Toffer thought about doing a rhythm game with a full band, rather than just guitars. This was right around the time Harmonix was already hard at work on “Rock Band,” a game that offered just that.

Toffler suggested that Harrison meet with Alex Rigopulos, Harmonix’s co-founder, to talk about the game. Randall saw that meeting as the birth of “The Beatles: Rock Band.” “In that meeting, they started joking: ‘Oh, yeah, we should do a Beatles game, that’d be cool.’ And then the more they thought about it, they realized, ‘Yeah, that would be cool, we should do this.’ From there, Harmonix and MTV Games approached Apple Corps and got the conversation rolling.”

From there, it was just a matter of bringing all the parties together. Randall came onboard in late 2007, when he was charged with making a demo video to show the “shareholders” at Apple Corps. “The shareholders are basically Paul [McCartney] and Ringo [Starr] and Yoko [Ono] and Olivia Harrison,” Randall said. “So we worked with Giles Martin, the son of Sir George Martin, who produced most of the Beatles’ catalog, to get a few songs in ‘Rock Band’ to see how they would play.

“We bundled it all up and headed over to Abbey Road Studios,” he added. “There, we met with the different shareholders and showed them what we were thinking and started talking about ideas, and they thought it was cool. Things just progressed from there.”

The Beatles “Now And Then”, an unfinished song… This wont be part of the Beatles rOckband game, but i just want to share the information to those who will stumble to this Beatles Blog.

“Now and Then” (also known as “I Don’t Want to Lose You” or “Miss You”) is the name given to an unreleased composition by John Lennon. It was first recorded in demo form in 1978 and was resurrected in 1995 as a third possible reunion single by Lennon’s former band, The Beatles, for their 1995 autobiographical project The Beatles Anthology.

It was written by John Lennon in the late 1970s, around the same time as “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love“. The unfinished piece of music was originally recorded by Lennon in a demo form at his home at the Dakota Building, New York City, circa 1979.

In January 1994, Paul McCartney was given two tape cassettes by John Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono that included home recordings of songs Lennon never completed or released commercially. The songs on the tape included the eventually completed and released “Free as a Bird” and “Real Love”, in addition to two other songs “Grow Old With Me” and “Now and Then”. In March 1995, the three surviving Beatles began work on “Now and Then” by recording a rough backing track that was to be used as an overdub. However, after only two days of recording, all work on the song ceased and plans for a third reunion single were scrapped permanently.

One thing is obvious after playing the closely-guarded story mode of The Beatles: Rock Band: this is no quick cash-in. The rewards system included in the game features some extraordinary (and oftentimes exclusive) extras that no Beatles fan will want to miss. Rare archival photos, audio and video chronicle the meteoric rise of the Beatles, providing an almost-encyclopedic document of the band’s career.

Unlike the previous Rock Band games, the entire setlist will be available from the get-go in The Beatles: Rock Band. Considering the mainstream appeal of the Beatles, Harmonix realized it was foolish to lock away the core content of the game from the masses. Instead, the story mode provides something sorely missing from the first two Rock Band games: context. The tour mode of the previous titles attempted to emulate the experience of being a band on the rise, but did so through a simple numeric representation of how many fans players have accumulated. The Beatles offers cutscenes, both rendered in the game’s engine and through animation, that begin inside one of the band’s earliest venues: The Cavern Club.

Players will have to play through a number of pre-selected songs in order to progress onto the next part of the story, visiting venues such as the set of the Ed Sullivan Show, Budokan, Shea Stadium, and the rooftop of Apple Records. Those who manage to get 5-star ratings on all the songs will unlock a number of extras, such as photos that chronicle the history of the Beatles. These images include intimate details fact-checked by Paul McCartney himself.
